Founded in 1990, The Ensemble da Camera of Washington brings together three internationally acclaimed musicians whose backgrounds span Russia, Germany, and Brazil. Since its founding, the ensemble has performed throughout the United States and has appeared at many of Washington, D.C.’s most distinguished concert venues, including the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater, the Coolidge Auditorium at the Library of Congress, and the National Gallery of Art.

Praised for its exceptional ensemble playing, stylistic refinement, and virtuosity, The Ensemble da Camera explores a repertoire spanning four centuries, with programs ranging from solo works and duos to the rich literature for trio. The ensemble also frequently collaborates with guest artists, further expanding the scope and variety of its programming.

The Ensemble da Camera’s recordings for the Vernissage Records label have received widespread critical acclaim from both broadcast and print media, including WETA, The Washington Post, Fanfare, Classical Pulse, High Performance,and American Record Guide.

A strong advocate for contemporary music, the ensemble has commissioned and premiered new works written for its distinctive instrumentation. These include trios by American composers Richard Faith, Michael Hersch, Glenn Smith,and Dominik Maican, as well as the Washington premiere of a trio by Russian composer R. Riabov.

Education has also played an important role in the ensemble’s history. For many years, The Ensemble da Camera served as Ensemble-in-Residence with the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras, where its members mentored gifted young musicians selected through audition. The residency combined performance with chamber-music coaching and master classes, reflecting the ensemble’s longstanding commitment to nurturing the next generation of musicians.
